Progressive Exfoliation
Get glowing #glassskin with progressive exfoliation with J Renee Organics products and J Renee Esthetics services. Learn how
The concept of progressive exfoliation is exactly what the stars in Hollywood do to keep their youthful glow in between their Botox or filler appointments. I prefer a more natural, gentle approach with plant acids and enzymes like glycolic acid, bromelain and salicylic acid to aid in cell turnover and to stimulate collagen production. Because you are removing the thick layer of dry, dead skin cells, your products are more readily absorbed too, which saves you money on serum and moisturizer.
There are levels of exfoliating; when used together at the right timing, they can achieve excellent results in clearing up acne, lessening the look of wrinkles, making pores look smaller and softening the texture of your skin.
DAILY: For daily gentle exfoliation, you can use a cleanser with enzymes or a retinol lotion or serum.
WEEKLY: You’ll want to do your acne or antiaging mask with a peel mask and add scrub bits for a bit of manual exfoliation.
MONTHLY: is when to see an esthetician for a stronger peel and microdermabrasion. The strength increases as the routine is spread apart more: daily is very gentle, weekly is a bit stronger and monthly is the most-strong, that’s why you only do it every 4-6 weeks.
If you follow this routine, your skin should become and stay soft and clear and your complexion will glow. It may take weeks or even months to see the full benefits of this routine though, so stick with it and be consistent. Make sure to do your daily routine in the morning and evening every day. The more consistent you are, the quicker you will see results.
Simply a scrub additive of olive seed, apricot fibers and bamboo. Add these natural bits and pieces to any cleanser or mask to create a scrub from the products that you know your skin likes. Just a pinch of these natural particles will provide enough scrubbing power to smooth out rough skin. 1 oz glass jar.
Place your wet product in the palm of your hand (cleanser or mask) and add a scoop of the dry fibers and mix together. (Scoop spoon included) Apply to the skin and very slightly push and scrub the skin in circular motions for about 30 seconds, making sure not to push too hard. If using a mask, leave on like you normally would; if a cleanser, rinse off and apply the next steps of your routine.
Enzymes gently scavenge damaged, diseased, and dead skin cells for optimal radiance. Gotu Kola is a proven collagen stimulant proven to work 120 times more effectively than synthetic collagen replacement therapies. Reishi mushroom carries Asiatic Acid to the cells for damage restoration, fading of sun spots and damage, wrinkle reduction, and boosting of cellular hydration. This beautifully gentle mask can be used by children, extremely sensitive skin types, Rosacea and anyone wanting to get a deeper cleanse and exfoliate but have adverse reactions to stronger products. 2 oz glass jar.
After cleansing your face and chest, apply a small amount to your finger tips and gently apply thin layer to face, neck and chest. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and a rag and apply toner, serum and lotion. Do not use in shower; too much moisture. Use 1-2 times per week unless you become sensitive, then only 1x per week.

Skin Health and Systemic Disease
Find out how to repair crepey skin and in turn, have healthier skin and body.
Crepey body skin may have you wearing long sleeves or pants in the summer. Not only is crepey body skin unsightly, it is a visual indicator of unhealthy skin. In recent studies, scientists have found that the state of your skin can affect your overall health. It’s the chicken-or-egg scenario; they aren’t 100% sure yet if poor skin health causes overall body inflammation, which causes many health conditions and premature aging…or if poor skin health is caused by systemic inflammation. The studies are starting to point toward unhealthy skin being the CAUSE or at least a large puzzle piece toward the cause of disease. Afterall, your skin is your largest organ.
Studies also show that pairing the right lotion (rich in vitamins and minerals and using it at least twice per day), drastically improves the look of crepey skin and improves the quality and health of thin aging skin. Also, exfoliation brings blood flow to your skin cells along with a healing response that kick starts more collagen production and repairs elastin that has been broken down from UV damage, smoking and environmental toxins. I suggest a pouf in the shower, dry brushing or a body scrub.
I use J Renee Organics Supple Body Lotion and exfoliate with a shower pouf to preserve my youthful skin all year, so that when summer comes around, I can be confident in showing off my arms and legs. Supple Lotion has even helped my parent’s skin heal after surgery. Surgery and other stresses on the body can make skin dry and fragile and make your whole body dehydrated because it cannot hold-in moisture like it should. Proper moisturized skin is essential for overall body health.
Conditions (so far) that are proven to be caused by poor skin quality include: Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. “Until recently, the scientific community didn’t believe that skin could contribute to systemic inflammation and disease. But in the last five years, studies of psoriasis and dermatitis have shown that skin inflammation from these diseases likely increases the risk of heart disease," said study lead author Theodora Mauro, MD, a professor of dermatology at UCSF and the San Francisco VA Health Care System.
In the study, published March 5, 2019 in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Mauro, Man and colleagues attempted to reverse age-related skin damage using an over-the-counter skin cream formulated based on prior research by Man and colleagues, and which the researchers had previously shown to contribute to skin repair based on its beneficial ratio of three types of lipids (cholesterol, free fatty acids, and ceramides) that are vital for skin health.
Thirty-three older adults between the ages of 58 and 95 applied the cream all over their bodies twice a day for 30 days. After a month, the researchers measured blood levels of three cytokines—interleukin-1 beta, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha—that have all been implicated in age-related inflammatory diseases. Using the cream reduced the amount of all three cytokines compared to both the participants’ levels before using the cream and the levels of similarly aged adults who did not use the cream. In fact, using the cream lowered participants’ cytokine levels to be nearly equivalent with people in their 30s, suggesting that rejuvenating the skin can reverse “inflamm-aging.” The cream also improved skin hydration, lowered pH, and repaired the permeability barrier.

Pamper your skin with this deeply moisturizing and fortifying lotion. Supple Cream has a delightful feel, is unscented and absorbs right into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. Its packed with organic antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to sooth dry skin and to stimulate collagen. That collagen production essentially rebuilds the matrix to shield you better from bumps and scratches. When skin is moisturized properly its stronger, when it’s too dry, it gets brittle and vulnerable to scratches turning into deeper sores and has a hard time healing itself.

Melasma Plan
“…Recent scientific evidence shows that a melasma can be linked to stress, depression and anxiety.“
Melasma is a skin condition that causes the darkening of the skin on the forehead, cheeks, chin and upper lip. It’s thought to be caused by hormonal factors but in recent research, it’s also been found to be involved in the immune system’s inflammatory response. Current suggestions for treatment focus on sunscreen of 30+SPF worn daily, avoidance of direct and indirect sun exposure (especially UVA rays), whitening creams and exfoliating away pigmented skin with peels, microdermabrasion and other esthetic modalities.
UVA rays are like pouring oil on a fire, they stoke the production of melanin, which makes melasma considerably worse. UVA rays peak in early morning hours and can easily pass through glass, even on cloudy days and doesn’t cause a sun burn. Intense heat also causes melasma skin to darken. People with careers dealing with high heat situations or intense sunlight will have the hardest time managing this condition. My worst case of melasma came in from a client who was a pilot. The several hours of windshield time a pilot, long-haul driver or the like is very detrimental to the skin, even without melasma. Saunas and steam rooms should also be avoided for people trying to manage their melasma.
Recent scientific evidence shows that a melasma can be linked to stress, depression and anxiety. This comorbidity does not surprise me; these conditions cause inflammation in the body. Furthermore, antidepressant medications cause you to be more sensitive to UV damage.
As an esthetician, I recommend starting a series of Pigment Fading Microdermabrasions as well as a home routine that gently exfoliates amd lightens skin with every application. How many treatments and at what frequency is completely individual. The esthetician will assess your skin and write up a plan for your specific needs. Some people are too sensitive for microdermabrasion, so they will be referred to Pigment Fading Facials or Home Facial Kits to fade and blend the skin tone.
